The Assassination of Brangwain Spurge by Anderson and Yelchin, released Sept 2018, h/c. I bought it new in hardback because I was convinced by what I saw online that I was going to want to reread it and study the pictures. The pictures are not illustrations. They are part of the story, and they are one of the reasons the book demands to be reread immediately, so you can reinterpret both the text and the images in the light of later information. Neither text nor image is entirely reliable. People who have trouble with interpreting pictures will probably dislike this book, because there are long sequences of narrative images. (One reviewer who is face-blind said that the text helped him.) Aside from the personality interactions, plots and counterplots, it's a fairly simple story of an ambassador visiting a hostile country. It's a buddy story; friendships are a significant part of what happens. Generally recommended for ages 10 and up.
