You are absolutely right. Currently I'm about to start The Colour of Magic again - it's been a while.

On a trip to London, in that huge Waterstones (think it's still there) - I found the "sci f and fantasy" section, tried a Michael Moorcock and didn't like it; but there was The Colour of Magic! I did not want to put that book back on the shelf :)

I recently explained the plot of Colour of Magic and Light Fantastic to a friend and he replied "This sounds like a D&D campaign" and I will never look at the wonderful chaos of those two books the same. It really IS like a D&D campaign and Rincewind has terrible stats but keeps rolling natural...

...that passage! I guess, though, that we still have to intuit Tonyblack's idea that Granny W used magic on the water.... Wow, Tonyblack, 5 times... I can totally understand why. I took notes the second time I read the Colour of Magic many years ago.. these books are jewels to be read & re-read:)
