I just happened to find the first one [edit: not at the thrift shop - it was a gift]. I think it's quite good, and funny in places (one of the authors seems to specialize in funny mysteries). If I manage to find the other books, I will buy them, possibly even at full price.
The protagonist has Asperger's, is good at logical research, and has set up shop to answer questions. The trouble is, people keep asking him questions they don't want answered, or that he would rather not answer. Still, once hired, he feels required to do his best - not to solve problems, just to answer questions that have been asked.
