The Murderbot Diaries returns with a short novel, System Collapse, which takes up the action shortly after the end of the previous book, Network Effect. Barish-Estranza now have reinforcements, but Preservation is still waiting for their own response team to arrive. Spoiler - there is another lost colony to find, if they are still alive - it's been over 30 standard years since they ditched the original group. But our grouchy SecUnit has been having flashbacks of [redacted] things that, as far as it knows, never happened, and even a short blackout puts everyone in danger. There is politically strained maneuvering, some serious combat (it's not Murderbot without some combat), propaganda, and new people to meet, fight, and rescue. And ART gets to play.
