Page 135, "Stoker stole the Count's namefrom the real-life Vlad Dracul, also known as Vlad Tepes the Impaler"

In fact Vlad II Dracul (pre1395-1447) was Vlad III Dracula's (1431-1476) father. Tepes pronounced Tsepesh is Romainian for Impaler, and should in no way be applied to the father who in not recorded as having impaled a single person; as opposed to his son who impaled literally thousands (probably aproximately 40,000) in his six year reign (1456-1462) of Wallachia.

For anyone interested in these remarkable men and their times I recommend 'Dracula Prince of many faces' R. Floreccu & R. T. McNally 1989 ISBN 0-316-28656-7

Which book was that in? o_O

I don't recall reading it in a Discworld book.

Welcome to the site A P Herbert! I presume you are not the A P Herbert who wrote 'Misleading Cases' - unless you are writing from beyond the grave.
