Being a newbie I was quite surprised to not see an area to discuss music - so this seems like an appropriate area?

Maybe we can all recommend an album/act/composer/band/performer who we particularly love or has had a big impact on us?

I'll start with Future of the Left. Shouty alt-hardcore fun, grown out of the ashes of McLusky. Not for everyone, but jolly entertaining both on record and live.

I don't listen to a lot myself; there's a thread in the Drum called What are you listening to? 3, you might find some like-minded souls?

Or you can persevere here My favourite band as a youngster was The Wedding Present, they got me though some tough times (teen angst, boyfriends, exam stress and whatnot).

How about Mozart or Beethoven? During their time, these two were fairly notable for 'rocking out'.
