I did enjoy it but it was strange.

I read it a couple of years ago when a work colleague brought in some books from home that he didn't have room for. I think it there was a strange mix of books including Christopher Moore's The Island of the Sequend Love Nun and The His Dark Materials trilogy.

I think I preferred the His Dark Materials but enjoyed Kafka more than Love Nun.

I read this a few months ago and it really did wonders for me. A beautiful meditation on consciousness expansion. I like the idea that life is a series of metaphors. Really smart, powerful, surreal writing.

What did y'all think of the way magical realism bumped into mythology and metaphorical interpretations of reality? Those were the more interesting, literary aspects of the book to me.
