If you can find them, it's worth checking out Martin Mull's comedy albums of the 70s. They're all of the satirical song variety, and many of them are incredibly politically incorrect (with titles like "The Blacks and Giving Me The Blues"), but the musicianship on them is incredible. If you had to buy one, I'd get "I'm Everyone That I Have Ever Loved," if only for "Boogey Man," a beautifully produced satire of classic Philly soul.
