OH!! Ick, I have that in both hands/wrists, I play guitar and used tools on robots and factory lines. Graves is when a part of your brain decides that the Thyroid is the enemy. It tends to run in families and is brought on by EXTREME STRESS. My stress over the topper was my apprenticeship in a "man's world". It sends out antibodies to try and kill the thyroid and the thyroid fights back by becoming "SUPER THYROID" making your metabolism run amok and the antibodies attack every part of you from head/hair to toenails.
I would not wish this disease on my worst enemy. He is Dead now, and i still would not wish it on him. I had a really bad doctor who did not diagnose me properly for over 11 years and by then I almost died. I had a heart attack and went to another doctor. He walked into the room and shouted "My God Woman, There's Something Wrong With Your Thyroid!!!" He asked why I didn't think something was wrong when I could eat whatever I wanted and not gain weight and my boobs got bigger. I said, and this is an exact quote..." I Thought It Was a Gift From God, You Fool!"
My eyes were bulging out of my head and had a goiter the size of a big sort of flattened out Peach on my neck. I was partially blind in both eyes and had to have about 25 hours of surgeries, 4 different ones to save my sight. If they had an olympics for the worlds largest eye muscles, the specialist said I would come in at First or second place in the world. Most people just die when they get to where I was. My Dad died from it.
I "should" be ok as long as I don't stress more than usual LOL and keep taking the proper meds at the exact same blasted times every single day for the rest of my life. "It is, what it is" and "you have to be able to laugh at yourself or you will just cry" are my new mottos.
