Update on new games

I've preordered them, despite
* Modiphius really ballsing up the delivery of the RPG (details below)
* Shipping cost from the UK to Australia being a massive pain in the wallet.
Mostly because I'm a huge fan of modern board games, I know Blue Moon City (the game reworked to be Readers Digested) is well loved by many reviewers, and the pictures of the games' internals look good too.
Ok, so the kerfuffle over the RPG: Initially, there were big delays - original dates promised for delivery were late last year, but manufacturing and shipping delays pushed it back to the recent few months. This meant that some Kickstarter backers got theirs after the retail release (31 July) even though the products were somewhat different in content.
Then the packages started arriving, and people discovered problems. Biggest one is that the "Octarine" dice which most people got were of very poor quality - some chipping, many off-centered printing of the numbers, and colour pallettes that varied wildly from the original render. (Personally - I like the colour of mine, but several had the chipping/off-centre problem). These are already going to be replaced for those that are unhappy with their dice.
Next was that the Collector's edition of the rulebook was promised to have gold edging and multiple ribbons - it has no gold edging and only one ribbon. Apparently they made this decision during the manufacturing process but didn't bother to let all the backers know.
Third was a Paul Kidby poster which was delivered as much smaller than promised (I can't remember the measurements).
And perhaps most disappointing of all was the huge lack of communication about all of these issues until there was a lot of noise being kicked up about it. Some have still yet to be acknowledged publicly.
As recompense, people have been offered replacement dice, and GBP 10 credit towards the next campaign (Lancre & Uberwald) which will be launching soon.
So there are certainly people out there who are very very unhappy with how Modiphius have handled the RPG campaign and thus won't support them for these board games or future RPG projects, and I can completely understand that. For myself, I have received a partial refund based on some of the problems in my delivery, but the RPG books themselves (and their contents) are very well done and I'm enjoying reading them and may run an adventure when I've had a chance to absorb all the rules. And I am definitely looking forward to the board games too.
