Mostly got the ones above plus

Groundhog Day (the 5:59/6:00 bit)

The mask could be Hannibal but the moth's definitely Silence of the Lambs (Silencio? or could that be La Dolce Vita?)

Sex Lies and Videotape? VHS natch ;)

American Beauty (bullet & petals + music)

The Matrix (red & blue pills)

That red sun with the barbed wire-like character hanging on a noose - is that something like Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence? It's more like Tenko actually !

Algerian? No idea - not sure about SL&V as I was just going by the videos

I'm almost certain that red sun with black barbed wire writing is about a Japanese concentration camp - that's with my graphics cap on - It's very iconic and that's definitely a hangman's noose right at the top of the wire too

The thing is, all the films are going to be pretty famous.

Was Umbrellas of Cherbourg famous?
I think you're probably right about them being after famous movies - although 'Up' is far too new to be famous - isn't it?

As for Umbrellas of Cherbourg, it's a French movie and well worth checking out. It's got one of the most famous songs from the movies. Been recorded by loads of people in loads of different languages.
