Good to know that Sam went on to read other Pterry books. TCOM is a book for its time, a perfect antidote to Eddings and similar, but also a good antidote to any fantasy book/film that takes itself too seriously. (A perfect example of that is "Yor: The Hunter from the Future", which is so bad, it's hilarious). =P
