What have you seen recently?

The Legend Of The Guardians, The Owls of Ga'Hoole. Saw this film on Thursday in 3D.
The effects, painting, drawing, animation & dialog were very good, as was the music, but the plot wasn't so good. It had been done before in other films & bits of it were hard to follow. It is still a watchable film & people who love owls will enjoy it, I think, though I'll not bother to get the DVD when it's released. Having typed that, another viewing of it might actually make it make sense.

I agree with the above , although I didn't find it hard to follow.

Only saw it in 2D, though

The Devil's Backbone is brilliant, Willem doesn't know what he's talking about

I keep meaning to see it, I'm a big Del Toro fan, it's the only one of his I haven't seen - of his Spanish language trilogy I love Cronos and pan's Labyrinth. Love Hellboy 1 and 2 and Blade 2. Was interested to see what his version of the Hobbit would've been like but, oh well. Looking forward to his next, a remake of Disney's Haunted Mansion sans Eddie Murphy. I just wish he could re-do Mimic the way he wanted to .

DB was on TV (Film 4 I think) a couple of weeks ago, keep an eye out in case it's back on again.

I've recently seen Inception, which I loved, Despicable Me, which I enjoyed and Scott Pilgrim vs The World, which started off really well, but ran out of steam a bit towards the end. It probably could have done with being 15 or 20 minutes shorter, I thought.

On a side note, I rewatched The Beastmaster for the first time in ages a couple of weeks ago. I still think that it's the best film ever made about the platonic love between a monosyllabic barbarian hero and his kleptomaniac ferrets and I defy anyone to find a better example.

Finally watched Serenity.

Brilliant tie up to the firefly series with the door possibly open for more.

Yay glad you liked it! River's balletic fight scenes are incredible, so is the opening 5 mins that tsets up the universe and travels the whole ship! My other half has trouble watching it, though because she finds the Reavers too scary.

The next stop would be to read the comics.

There was a 3 issue series set between the series and the film.

A 3 issue series set I think before or during Firefly.

A one shot froma few months ago featured some old fried talking about stories of Wash - with a surprise entrane from Zoe at the end

And released last week was the Hardback graphic novel, written by Joss' brother, that reveals the origin of Shepard book.
