wot about films we all enjoy at christmas like- zulu, escape to victory and the wizard of oz
Exactly - Die Hard 1's hardly a Xmas movie aside from the fact that it happens at an Xmas party :p

I liked Elf too - it's so silly
Die hard is set at a Christmas Party with a reasonable amount of Christmas Music mixed in.

Was thinking of starting a second thread of fave films that only get shown at Christmas.

Still don't know about Home Alone.
I suppose its one of those people don't like to admit they like but it was fun

First in a while not to go for Nightmare Before Xmas

The missus got a copy of the classic Dudley Moore Santa Claus the Movie Yesterday and I'm a little tempted. Cheesy but fun.

Love Home Alone 1 and 2 and Nightmare.

Anyone like Corpse Bride? Not really a Christmas film but has that wintry feel + it's Burton

The problem with corpse bride is it followed Nightmare.

I thought this was a great piece of work.

While being a little dark it is great fun and the mixing of the living and dead is brilliant towards the end.

Sadly most critiques of the film amounted to it not being as good as Nightmare.

They are easy to compare but really shouldn't be as Burton only produced and wrote Nightmare whereas he directed Corpse.

I like it a fair bit, though, as for the darkness I think its funnier so makes Nightmare darker for me.
