So ... I'm re-reading The Truth right now and can't stop giggling at Pterry's wordplay. *G*

I especially love the scene where the New Firm tries to buy a Dis-Organiser ... that tells them its own warranty. Oh, lord. Mr. Tulip's reaction is gold. (It starts on page 83). Sample quote:

"... a green imp shot forward.

'Bingely-bingely-bee-"

It froze. Even a thaumaturgic creature of hell would freeze with a knife at its throat.

'What the hell is this?' Mr Pin demanded. I wanted something that would listen!'"

... and so on. ;) I finished that scene and put the book away, laughing and laughing and laughing. Clearly Pterry had enormous fun parodying EULAs. Equally clearly, the rogue wizard made a big mistake. How dare he ask them to pay. =P I only hope he will be able to walk. Eventually, perhaps. ;)

In The Truth, William is struck by the press, which leaves its msrk on him. When he looks in the mirror, he sees a reversed R bruise on his forehead.
Of course it's reversed because he's looking in a mirror, but I've wondered for years - why an R? I think I may have guessed it.

(Also, there was a movie, Cool World, that had comics characters in an unreal world, "noids" (nerds) who wanted to live in the cool world, and "real" people who didn't want to live in a fantasy world. I'm not quite sure whether that movie came out before The Truth, but I think it did.)

In Red Dwarf, the hologram character has an H on his forehead, for hologram. There was a fad for fans of the show to wear an H. William is Real, so he has an R.
