I think Death's reaction to it is one of the saddest thing I ever read. "WILL I BE ... AM I A GOOD GRANDFATHER?" Please hand me the tissues, I'm bawling my eyes out.

If you're ever confused about music references and such, L-Space and especially The Annotated Pratchett File is a great resource. Sadly the APF stopped updating after "Going Postal" - not sure why.

On the other hand, L-Space wiki is also a handy resource, as is Reddit Discworld. Here's the link to at least one Soul Music discussion there: Would anyone like to contextualize Soul Music for me?

Hi! I'm many years late to the conversation, but that is only true for humans, not for antrophomorphic representation's grandaughters. I just re read Soul music, and I read all this discussion but didn't find an aswer. I think what sent Death to his search to forget was witnessing his own daughters death, but I'm not at all sure because the book goes back and forth a few times. How old was Sudan when her parents died? Was she freshly orphaned when the events of the book occured?
