A heap of big stonking story collections, I decided to treat myself on my birthday and get some really beautiful editions.

The Odyssey (penguin hardback classics edition)
East of the Sun and West of the Moon (calla edition)
Stories from Hans Christian Anderson (calla edition)
Tales from the 1001 Nights (penguin hardback classics edition)
A Christmas Carol and Other Christmas Writings (penguin hardback classics edition)
The Complete Sherlock Holmes (vintage classics' Arthur Conan Doyle's 150th anniversary edition)
Myths and Legends of Russia (folio society)

But i get Inheritance in the post tomorrow so they're going to have to wait another couple of days at least.

...I recently completed the excellent trilogy 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' which was a real rollercoaster, thoroughly enjoyed them, and such a shame that Stieg Larsson died so young with all that talent.

I have just finished 'The First Blitz' by Neil Hanson about the 'Gotha' and 'R' Plane bomber raids on London in the first world war which was amazingly well researched, the minutiae gleaned from long forgotten records from both sides of the war is extraordinary.
If you, like me, have an interest in WWI it is compelling material, and even if you have no particular interest it is worth the read.

I have just started a good friends book 'The Rainbow In My Heart' about his hard life and his love of his wife who died so young and the trial s and tribulations endured with the (Australian) authorities.
it is hard to read when you have a personal attachment, and apparently I get a couple of (nice) mentions too.

After that I have 'Snuff' which was a recent birthday present, so that is something (hopefully) I will enjoy, and for that reason I have not read any views or threads so that I can judge for myself...

Was watching the tellybox last night, and someone mentioned Lady Chatterley's Lover.

Since I've never read it, I immediately downloaded it onto my Kindle, to see what all the fuss is about.

79p!
